The Tin Fish

I enjoyed this place. It is a good fish taco meal. The grilled Sea Bass was delicious. The Blue Water Grill on India is still my favorite though.

Great service and food. Staff was very friendly and we had 9 in our party. The 3 kids enjoyed the fresh fish and shrimp! Clam chowder in bread bowl was great, too. As well as calamari!

Great food, reasonably priced. Would eat again. Fast service and wonderful venue. Beer is quite costly though.

Decent food and prices. Loved the fries more than my food selection. Wasn't crazy for the coleslaw.

San Diego is a great place to get street tacos, and there are so many delicious places to choose from. This is definitely a must try if you are visiting from out of town. Fish is crispy and the condiments that go on with the taco are really good. Fell apart on me though… And I wish there was more sauce because that’s where the flavor is. It was fun to sit and watch joggers go up and down the steps at the conference center.

If you're looking for a quick but tasty meal, look no further than Tin Fish. Order at the counter and then find a spot on the spacious patio (there isn't much indoor seating, so it's not the best for a cold or rainy day). While the tacos may initially seem a bit pricey, the cost is well worth the amount of fish they contain. There had to be a whole salmon filet in my taco. Go ahead and order some fries, they are nice and crispy!

The food is decent and tasty. But don't expect much variety from the drink selection. Very basic.

The fish wasn't so great but the shrimp were pretty good.

Not the best, not the worst fish n chips. But the waffle seasoned fries were great. The slaw was a bit too vinegary, but flavorful. Great location and nice atmosphere makes this a great go to downtown. Was lucky to snag metered parking, otherwise you may have to park in one of the pricey lots.

Best grilled shrimp tacos I’ve ever had! The fish and chips were good too. The coleslaw isn’t the mayo kind, but a lighter version. Plenty of drinks and entrees to choose from. Nice area in downtown SD with lots of outdoor seating and occasional live music.

Pretty good place, shrimp was really good, the crab cake was dry and small, the fish was cut thin so when fried it gets dry. Good atmosphere like most places in gaslamp. Definitely better places in the area though.

Outdoor seating is what this place has for it. So you can look at the convention center and homeless people. My friend disagrees with me on the food. He's from OC and said he wishes there was a place like this up there. I can think of other fish and chip places I like better like Dan Diego's, Shakespeare's Pub, or Mr. Fish and Chips. But they aren't in the middle of the convention center action. The fries were weirdly textured and the fish was thin with minced fish meat. They seem to be dog friendly.

Great place for drinks and seafood snacks. It's more of a fast food type of place and no service at the tables. The calamari is delicious as well as many of the other dishes. I had the seafood platter that was good but a bit dry. For less than 20 bucks I cant complain. Great location and fun place overall to go for cocktails and seafood snacks.

The fish was super flavorful; would give it 6 stars for that. Location and ambiance feel authentic. Cole slaw is forgettable.

This is a very nice place right in the heart of the Gaslamp!! Right next door to the Convention Center! They have great outdoor seating especially on nice days! They have a great selection of seafood, and beer!! The service was super fast, and the food was delicious! Love this place!

It's a yearly tradition to come here at least onc e during Comic Con. This place typically gets a makeover from one of the networks as part of a promotional thing for a TV show. The food stays the same but the outside gets somewhat of a makeover. The concept is simple. Grab a menu, order, and then food will be brought out to you. I usually either get fish tacos or a fish burrito. The taco size is pretty large as they use flour tortillas. If you get a combo you also get waffle fries and coleslaw. We happened to see the clam chowder fries and more intrigued so we grabbed an order of that. I don't really recommend the clam chowder fries because the chowder can really taste like a thick flour paste and not a chowder.All in all the food is pretty fresh and service is quick.

Overall is say it's ok. Good location and prices. Generally is relatively quick. I've been a bunch of times over the years. It's food is inconsistent. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. This trip I ate there once and it was pretty good. Last time I was in SD i ate there 3 times and 2/3 times it wasn't that good. Cold fries, chewy chicken.

Great location for people watching, very close to the convention center. Great for outdoor eating. It wasn’t busy when I went most recently (weekday), so I had to order at the bar. $4.50 pint of beer (happy hour starts at 3pm), and 1/2 order of fish and chips was $7.95 - and it was a lot of food (see my picture). Next time I’ll try the clam platter ($10.95). They always participate in Comic-Con in some form or fashion and it is most crowded then, but the rest of the year it’s got plenty of space with good service. My fish and chips were delicious and the vinegar based coleslaw was divine.

Marissa, the young gentleman and night manager were excellent. There was a very rude couple in while we were enjoying our dinner that was causing the staff grief. The staff was 100% polite an did everything to accommodate the miserable woman. The food and drinks were excellent. The service was awesome. By the time we were finished, I stopped at the rude ladies table and suggested to her next time she was out, she shouldn't be so rude. Highly recommend the Tin Fish. Staff and food was awesome

Fish taco's are awesome. Would frequent here more often if I lived/worked in the area. Looking forward to my next visit!Came back a year later. Still an awesome fish taco! Would drive 3 hours down to San Diego JUST for these!

This place was a great seafood place for a quick bite and beer. I got the Mixed grilled seafood with slaw and fries and it was delicious. Plenty of patio seating and overall very chill spot in the Gaslamp.

Good food at a reasonable price, and well located.They have a fair range of stuff on the menu and a pretty laid back atmosphere which makes it a great place to eat at.

Cute place with a divey feel. Staff was lovely and nice and they had live music playing outside which was amazing. Great food with an extensive clear menu. All together fantastic

Delicious sea food restaurant with tacos, burritos, fish sandwiches. The restaurant is counter service and can be a bit noisy. So if you are looking for a quiet intimate setting maybe consider elsewhere.If you want fash fresh delicious seafood with a descent outdoor patio come here.

Cool place to get a fried fish taco and a beer and watch sports. Liked the outdoor seating. It was a great place to have a light lunch daily while working in the area.

Fish tacos were phenomenal. Definitely more of a bar that sells food rather than a restaurant that serves drinks. The atmosphere was upbeat, the staff were friendly, and the food was fast AND delicious.

The five piece fish and chip combo was fantastic! Great prices on all their food. We also had the tilapia tacos and they were excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Best seafood in San Diego county! Next door to Petco Park, close to trolly and you can park at any trolly station and be dropped off at their door.

I ordered the salmon sandwich, paper thin salmon with a huge bun. The cole slaw was soggy and I watched someone from another table bring theirs back and complain (with a rude response from the cook). Sorry, I don't recommend the salmon sandwich at this place. My wife ordered a fish taco, very disappointed. Great location, poor food.

I got the halibut fish and chips. It was good, but not exceptional. For the area their process are reasonable. The have a great location for people watching. Probably won't be back, better options all around them.

I had a fish taco with fries and some clam chowder..along with a big old beer! It was quite the meal! I left stuffed. Fish taco was pretty good and very big portion for just one taco. Fries were.. fries, nothing to special there.Clam chowder was pretty good, very creamy. I'm going back to this place to see if I loved or just liked the clam chowder...that beer did me in!If you find this review helpful please like it.

Quick and easy. Relaxing environment. Good to grab a quick bite. Mahi was a little dry. Sweetest surprise to find the Cole slaw being the best thing off the plate.

This is my first 1-star review. I read the reviews and thought it would be good. The restaurant crew were great and very friendly, that's what made this difficult. They were out of oysters, so I ordered fish and clams as a combo. Neither were edible. They were hard and rubbery and tasted old. I ended up leaving an entire plate practically untouched.

Love the food, location, and the people. Best place.
